Maisha by Nisria was honored to take part in the Nairobi Design Week Festival 2024, a celebration of creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange. This event provided us with the ultimate platform to unveil our latest collection, foster new connections with fellow creators, and immense learning opportunities.

Our favorite highlight during Nairobi Design Week was the debut of our Hayat Collection. This new upcycled collection seamlessly merges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, a demonstration of our dedication to sustainability and cultural heritage preservation. It was wonderful to have attendees captured by the intricate details of our garments, sparking engaging conversations.

Central to our new collection is the belief in preserving the delicate Palestinian art of Tatreez and safeguarding it from the threat of erasure. Through interactive Tatreez embroidery workshops, we shared these values with a diverse audience, fostering moments of connection and empowerment

We also had the privilege of connecting with our friends at African Collect Textiles (ACT), which shares a commitment to collecting and repurposing used textiles to combat fashion waste. It is always comforting to witness the collective efforts toward a common cause of positive impact on both the environment and communities.

Our experience at Nairobi Design Week emphasized the significance of creativity, community, and collaboration. It reaffirmed our belief that fashion can drive positive change while emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage amidst global shifts. As we continue our journey at Maisha, we remain steadfast in our mission to create garments that tell stories, empower individuals, and contribute to a sustainable future.
