Upcycled Fashion for a Better World

In Nairobi alone, approximately 20 million kilograms of textile waste find their way to landfills each year, contributing to a growing environmental challenge.

At Maisha, we recognize the detrimental impact of this waste and have committed ourselves to a sustainable solution through upcycling. Upcycling is not just a method for us; it's a transformative approach that addresses economic, social, and environmental concerns. By repurposing textiles from used clothes and trims, we actively minimize landfill contributions, reduce reliance on new raw materials, and prevent the unnecessary burning of valuable materials, curbing the emission of 1000 kilograms of CO2 and hazardous pollutants into the air.

Our commitment goes beyond waste reduction. At Maisha, we embrace upcycling as an art form, creatively breathing new life into old, tattered, worn, broken, or frayed pieces of clothing or fabric. This process results in unique, premium products that offer a sustainable alternative to conventional manufacturing.

Through our comprehensive training programs, we empower students in high-end upcycling techniques. Focused on problem-solving, creativity, resourcefulness, and innovation, our students become agents of change in the textile waste crisis.
